Overview
The Traffic NAT is a group of neighbors who are concerned about the effect of irresponsible driving on our safety and quality of life. Members of our community with a traffic-related focus have worked together before the Maxwell Park Neighborhood Council formed the NATS (neighborhood action teams). In addition, since dangerous driving doesn’t respect boundaries, traffic calming often involves cooperation with adjacent beats such as the Melrose-High Hopes NCPC.
Traditionally, addressing traffic issues falls into three categories, known as the three Es. These are education, enforcement and engineering. We have worked with Oakland departments such as OPD, Department of Public Works, and Traffic Engineering over the years in addressing our problems.
