About The Council
The Maxwell Park Neighborhood Council (certified on June 3rd, 1998) is one of Oakland’s Neighborhood Crime Prevention Councils. Its membership – the residents and businesses of Police Beat 28X – works cooperatively with the Oakland Police Department and City Agencies and Officials to create a safe and beautiful environment supported by an informed and engaged community. We have 6 Neighborhood Action Teams that work on projects to improve the quality of our neighborhood. Please check them out by exploring “Neighborhood Action Teams” above.
Our Objectives
The Council addresses neighborhood concerns and issues via:- Bi-monthly meetings with the community, Oakland Police Department, our City Council Members and representatives and guest speakers
- Networking for problem solving, especially utilizing our Neighborhood Action Teams
- The resources of the neighborhood email group
- Our access to City resources helps us to improve the quality of life in Maxwell Park
